We assemble the 4902-1 with two planoconvex lenses paired inside a turned body. The field stays flat right to the outer edge of the view, which helps when checking escapement teeth and fine pivots. A threaded retaining ring holds the optics firmly in position.

Optical construction

Two planoconvex lenses sit grouped within the frame. This arrangement flattens the view across the aperture so you can inspect fine pinion leaves without shifting the eyepiece back and forth.

Threaded ring

The lenses are seated against an internal shoulder and secured by a threaded ring. This keeps the glass from shifting during bench work and lets you dismantle the assembly when dust needs clearing.

Body profile

The housing is molded from black plastic with an outer taper that sits naturally in the eye orbit. It blocks stray bench light from entering the side of the optical path.

Bench inspection

We build this eyeglass for close checking of train wheels, jewels, and balance pivots. The magnification brings the fine geometry of working surfaces into direct focus while your hands remain on your tweezers.
