What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobWorking on the movement

We size this blade at 0.50 mm for the smallest movement screws. The stainless steel body carries a knurled band where the index finger and thumb meet, while the top cap turns on its own axis under the resting finger. An orange ring marks the diameter on the bench.

Blade and set screw

We fit a 0.50 mm parallel ground tip into the ferrule. A small grub screw on the side clamps the flat of the shank, so you can free and replace a worn blade without altering the handle.

Swivel head action

The cap rotates independently from the barrel on a smooth bearing. You rest the tip of your forefinger on the head to maintain downward pressure while your other fingers turn the body.

Knurled stainless barrel

We turn the body from stainless steel and cut a band of straight knurling along the lower half. The textured pattern gives grip against the fingertips when turning small fasteners into plates and bridges.

Orange colour band

An orange elastomer ring sits in a groove directly beneath the head. The colour tells you the 0.50 mm size at a glance when several drivers lie side by side on your bench mat.

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
