What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobWorking on the movement

We turn this 1.2 mm driver for light assembly and bridge work at the movement bench. The stainless steel barrel carries fine knurling for your fingertips, while the red POM synthetic head turns freely beneath the index finger. It takes standard replacement blades from the same family.

The 1.2 mm blade

We grind the flat tip to seat cleanly down in screw slots of matching width. When the edge wears down after heavy use, loosen the side set screw to slip a fresh blade into the shank.

Stainless steel barrel

The body is turned from stainless steel with clean cross knurling cut along the grip. It gives a positive hold between thumb and forefinger without demanding heavy downward pressure from your hand.

Red POM swivel head

The smooth synthetic head rotates on an internal pivot. It lets you steady the driver with your index finger while rolling the barrel to seat or loosen a screw in the plate.

Identification by band

The red cap marks the 1.2 mm sizing immediately when the tool lies flat across the bench mat or stands upright in a carousel. Other sizes in the 30081 series carry their own distinct colors.

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
