What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobWorking on the movement

We fit this screwdriver with a 0.50 mm stainless steel blade for the smallest screw heads on the movement train. The orange ring identifies the sizing immediately across the bench mat. The body is turned from polyoxymethylene to give a light touch under the index finger.

Stainless steel blade

We grind the 0.50 mm flat blade from stainless steel to seat squarely in narrow screw slots. The parallel ground faces fill the slot wall to wall so the driver does not ride up under downward pressure.

Polyoxymethylene handle

We machine the handle from smooth polyoxymethylene rather than brass. The polymer body keeps the tool light in the fingers, giving direct feedback when taking up thread tension on delicate bridge screws.

Color coded swivel head

The smooth-running swivel head carries an orange band matching our 0.50 mm gauge. Your forefinger rests still on the top cap while the thumb and middle finger roll the body through a turn.

Blade replacement

The blade is held firmly in the nose by a small grub screw. When a tip wears or chips, release the screw to seat a fresh 0.50 mm replacement blade from the 30081 series.

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
