| What it is | A tool in its own right |
| Bench job | Working on the movement |
This 1.4 mm screwdriver handles movement assembly and plate screws at the bench. We turn the barrel from stainless steel with a knurled band where your fingertips rest, while the swivel head stays fixed under the index finger as the shank turns. The tip is held by a side set screw for fast replacement when dressed down.
Blade and slot contact
We grind the 1.4 mm flat blade parallel at the sides so it bottoms squarely in movement screw slots. This shape seats across the full width of the head rather than riding on the upper slot edges.
Knurled barrel section
The stainless steel handle features a broad knurled band cut directly into the metal. Your fingertips hold the texture without excess grip pressure while turning bridges, cock screws, or winding parts.
Rotating swivel head
The smooth head turns freely on the top of the shank. You rest your index finger on the crown to steady the driver while rolling the handle between thumb and middle finger.
Replacing a worn tip
A set screw in the side of the ferrule locks the blade into the body. Back out the screw to remove a chipped point, insert a fresh blade, and tighten it down flat against the shank.

A note that touches this tool
Reading a catalogue number
What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.
Choosing a blade width
Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
