We turn the body of this screwdriver from brass and plate it in chrome for a clean surface at the bench. A flat steel blade sits in the barrel, ready for movement screws. It comes paired with replacement blades held in their own small plastic tube.
Chrome-plated body
The brass handle receives a chrome finish that wipes clean of oil and bench dust. Knurling around the barrel gives your fingers purchase when turning a stubborn bridge screw.
Ground steel blade
The flat steel tip sits down into the screw slot to bear against the walls rather than the bottom. When an edge dulls or chips under load, dress it square on an India stone.
Swivel head
The broad head rotates independently on the top of the barrel. Your index finger rests stationary on the cap to steady the tool while thumb and forefinger run the knurled body.
Spare blade storage
Replacement steel blades come sealed in a clear plastic tube. Keep them in the drawer until a tip thins down or breaks, then loosen the side set screw to seat a fresh blade.

A note that touches this tool
Reading a catalogue number
What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.
Choosing a blade width
Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
