A watchmaker hammer needs two distinct strikes. We fit our 30417 with a brass end on one side and a synthetic nylon end on the other, mounted on a light handle for controlled bench work. When an insert shows burrs or wear, you unthread it and fit a fresh end.
The dual head
One side carries a brass striking face while the opposite end takes a synthetic nylon insert. You select the face to match the punch or stake you are tapping at the anvil.
Synthetic face
The synthetic end absorbs rebound when driving light pins or staking delicate components. It spreads the blow across the striking surface and unthreads easily when worn down by regular bench work.
Brass face
The brass insert provides solid contact against steel punches without the violent rebound of hardened steel on steel. The metal takes the wear so your staking tools stay true.
Replacing worn ends
Both faces thread directly into the head. Once a face is pitted or deformed from repeated strikes, you back it out and screw a fresh replacement end into the body.
