A worn blade will eventually climb out of a screw slot. We grind these 0.8 mm straight flat blades to restore the original working edge of our yellow-banded screwdrivers. Swapping the steel takes only a turn of the side setscrew on the handle.
Blade tip geometry
We grind the parallel flats of this 0.8 mm tip to seat down into narrow movement screw heads. The sides meet the slot walls square rather than wedging against the top edges.
Fitting the shank
The round shank slides straight into the bore of our 30080 and 30081 handles. Loosen the grub screw on the barrel, seat the flat against it, and tighten it down firmly.
Yellow series match
This blade matches the yellow colour code used across our benches for the 0.8 mm size. Keeping matched spares in the carousel tube means the right width is always at hand.
Dressing the steel
When the working face dulls from daily service, dress the edge flat on an India or Arkansas stone. Replace the blade entirely once repeated dressing shortens the parallel working section.
