| Bench job | Working on the movement |
Movement work requires a blade that fills the screw slot without touching the bridge walls. We grind these 0.50 mm replacement blades to fit our 30080 series driver body, giving the watchmaker a fresh, true edge when the original tip wears or chips during service on fine caliber components.
The ground profile
We dress the 0.50 mm tip with parallel flats so the working face bears against the walls of the screw head slot rather than wedging against the top edges. This shape distributes the turning force across the broad face of the cut.
Seating in the ferrule
The shank is sized to slide into our 30080 driver barrel. Tightening the small set screw on the side of the handle locks the blade true along the central axis of the tool without wobble during light movement assembly.
Replacement at the bench
When a driver tip burrs from repeated torque, loosen the body grub screw, draw out the worn steel, and seat this fresh blade fully before securing it. Keeping true blades at the bench avoids using dressed tips that have lost their thickness.
Movement screw fit
At 0.50 mm across the edge, this size targets the small threaded fasteners found in balance assemblies, endstone caps, and delicate train wheel bridges. It stays clear of countersunk recesses while seating directly to the base of the slot.

A note that touches this tool
Reading a catalogue number
What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.
Choosing a blade width
Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
