What it isA spare part for a tool you already have
Bench jobWorking on the movement

A worn blade will round off a screw head before you feel the turn. We pack these stainless steel replacement blades for our 6899 series drivers into individual color-coded tubes, laid out in a wooden box alongside the drivers. When a tip chips or loses its parallel flats, you loosen the grub screw on the ferrule and seat a fresh blade.

Stainless blade profile

We grind these replacement blades from stainless steel with flat parallel flanks so the working edges bottom out squarely inside the screw slot. They fit the chucks of the 6899 series driver bodies without binding.

Color coded containers

Each diameter sits in its own labeled tube marked with the matching color band. You can check the size at a glance before taking the tube to the bench, keeping the reserve stock separated from your working drivers.

Changing a tip

To change a blade, loosen the side set screw in the ferrule with a small driver, slide out the broken piece, and seat the fresh tip fully into the bore. Tighten the screw until it pinches the shank flat.

Wooden storage case

The wooden box keeps the full run of sizes together on the shelf. It holds the reserve tubes flat beside the driver slots, so you are not hunting through bench drawers when a screw slot requires a clean edge.

A note that touches this tool

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Read the note

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
