| What it is | A tool in its own right |
| Bench job | Working on the movement |
We shape the 30102-DJ with our largest drop profile for mainsprings, barrel arbors, and heavier movement points. The yellow handle indicates the size at a glance on the bench rack. It carries a fine metal spade into the oil cup and releases a metered drop when touched to the jewel or pivot.
The spade tip
A flat metal tip picks up lubricant from the cup by surface tension. It deposits the charge without wiping against the jewel wall when lowered straight into the sink.
The yellow body
We mold the handle in yellow plastic so you can pick out the heavy oiler among smaller grades. It rests between the thumb and forefinger like a light pencil.
The protective cover
A matching plastic sleeve slides over the tip between assemblies. It shields the metal point from dust and bench debris when laid down on the mat.
Keeping the tip clear
Clean the spade in elder pith or dry Rodico before dipping into fresh lubricant. Old residue on the metal will change how the drop forms and releases.

Oilers, cups and how much goes on
Why oilers come in graded sizes, what an oil cup with a lid is for, why the oil is picked up from the cup and not from the bottle, how a jewel takes a drop, and how oilers are cleaned between grades.
