When you correct a hairspring, the balance assembly cannot rest flat on a mat. We turn the 7995 support to take the balance-cock and suspended balance wheel together. It keeps the assembly fixed in place under the loupe and keeps bench dust away from the oiled staff pivot while you work with your tweezers.
Holding the cock
The support accepts the balance-cock directly, allowing the balance wheel and hairspring to hang freely beneath it. You gain clear access to the coils from above and from the side without touching the rim.
Pivot clearance
By suspending the staff off the bench surface, the support leaves the lower pivot untouched. Fresh oil on the jewel and pivot remains undisturbed while you make adjustments to the stud, collet, or overcoil curve.
Position under magnification
The base sits flat on your bench block or directly under the microscope. It stays where you set it, giving you both hands free to hold your hairspring tweezers and leveling needles without chasing a moving part.
Bench storage
We stamp this piece with the 7995 reference on its body. When corrections are finished, wipe the seating area with a clean pith wood peg and keep the support in your movement tray compartment beside your balance tools.
