What it isSomething that holds the work
Bench jobChanging a strap or bracelet

A bracelet held on edge in your fingers moves under the punch. We cast the 6744-P support from synthetic material with graduated slots to hold metal links or leather straps square on the bench. Clearance underneath lets the pin drop out freely when struck.

Molded body material

We cast this support from a synthetic block that will not mark polished steel or finished leather. The material absorbs light hammer blows while you seat a punch over a friction pin or split sleeve.

Graduated slot profile

Different link thicknesses need different channel widths. The body features multiple parallel slots, letting you select a channel that holds the link upright without excessive play as you work down the taper.

Pin clearance relief

The underside of each slot opens through the base. Driven pins pass through the bottom of the support directly onto the bench mat rather than binding against the bottom of the tool.

Bench stability

The broad base sits flat near your staking tool or hammer block. You can steady the block with two fingers of your off hand while keeping the punch vertical with the remaining fingers.

Changing a strap at the lugs

The order of work when a strap or bracelet comes off: which end of the spring bar tool does what, the difference between a fork end and a pin end, drilled lugs against closed lugs, and why the bracelet is held rather than gripped.
