Regulating an Etachron assembly requires small, deliberate corrections at the stud and the pinholder block. We profile the tip of the 16918-EETC to seat directly into the stud carrier. You turn the carrier to center the hairspring blade, or rotate the block to set play between the curb pins.
Stud adjustment profile
We cut the tip of this tool to match the slot of the Etachron stud. Turning the stud centers the balance spring between the regulator pins without bending or kinking the hairspring coil.
Pinholder block regulation
The blade also engages the pinholder block. Small rotations open or close the spacing between the curb pins, letting you adjust the free play of the balance spring as it oscillates.
Knurled barrel body
We machine the cylindrical handle with a fine cross knurl along the grip section. It gives your fingers steady purchase when you need to make minute corrections of a few degrees at the balance.
Blade width
The working end carries a 2.0 mm wide profile sized for the regulator components. It stays true in the cut slot so the turning force translates directly to the stud or block.

Reading a catalogue number
What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.
Choosing a blade width
Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
