Opening a fluted back demands full engagement around the entire ring of teeth rather than pressure on two points. We machine the 5537 key with interchangeable grooved chucks that fit the milled case profiles of waterproof designs. The die seats over the rim, distributing torque evenly as the handle turns.
Milled chuck profile
Each die carries teeth shaped to seat into the shallow flutes of the case back. Matching the diameter of the chuck to the ring keeps the contact spread across the full circumference of the metal.
Key handle engagement
The chuck mounts into the central drive handle, locking in square so downward force translates into direct turning torque. A firm grip on the handle gives steady control during the initial break.
Set of dies
The set includes grooved chucks to cover the standard range of case diameters found on fluted waterproof backs. They swap in and out of the key handle without extra fasteners.
Bench storage
The handle and dies rest in a dedicated holder that keeps each size separated and upright at the bench. It stops the teeth from knocking against hard files or steel tools.
