We turn this balance tool from nickel-plated metal with a 35mm diameter face. A series of drilled holes gives the balance staff clearance while the rim rests flat. It stays on the bench next to your poising tool so you can adjust screws without stressing the balance arm.
Nickel disc body
The body is turned as a solid disc with a 35mm diameter. The nickel plating resists workshop corrosion and provides a clean, flat surface to seat the balance wheel during adjustment.
Graded hole pattern
Holes through the face provide clearance for the staff and roller jewel. You choose the opening that lets the balance sit level while keeping the pivots clear of the bench surface.
Support during adjustment
The flat upper face supports the underside of the balance rim. This gives you a firm base when turning balance screws or adding timing washers, so the work does not bend the arm.
Bench placement
We keep number 30110 in the parts tray near the staking set and poising tool. It wipes clean with a dry cloth and takes up little space on the bench top.
