A worn or bent pin compromises the seat against a spring bar shoulder. We machine the 55-151-2 replacement point from stainless steel with a standard 0.8mm cylindrical tip. It threads directly into the tool handle when an old point needs retiring.
Point profile and sizing
The cylindrical tip measures 0.8mm across. It enters drilled lug holes and clasp adjustment recesses to depress standard spring bar pivots cleanly without binding on the hole walls.
Stainless steel stock
We turn this tip from solid stainless steel. The material resists corrosion from bench humidity and provides the required rigidity along the short working shaft under direct downward pressure.
Threaded shank seat
The threaded end screws straight into the knurled ferrule of the handle. It seats firm against the shoulder, keeping the working end aligned along the central axis of the tool.
Replacing the worn tip
Unscrew the damaged pin by hand or with smooth bench pliers, then thread the 55-151-2 home. Keeping a spare tip in the bench drawer avoids interruptions mid-case.
