We ground the bevel on the 6987-G specifically for watchmakers who work with their left hand. The solid metal handle provides broad flat sides to pinch between thumb and forefinger. This profile directs force along the case seam rather than twisting across it. It fits snap-back pocket and wristwatch cases.
Left bevel profile
The cutting edge carries a dedicated left-hand grind. When held in the left hand, the flat face registers against the case lip while the bevel lifts the snap back away from the middle case.
Solid metal handle
The plain handle body is broad and thick. Its shape gives the fingers a wide surface to grip, allowing you to lever a stubborn back without needing a loose palm rest.
Three hex fixings
Three hex screws clamp the blade firmly into the handle slot. They keep the steel shank seated under heavy prying pressure and release when the blade needs service.
Bench maintenance
Keep the edge free of burrs on an oilstone to maintain a clean purchase on the case notch. Store the tool flat in a drawer slot so the blade does not knock against other steel.
