What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobOpening and closing a case

Snap-on casebacks require an edge that can find the narrow pry notch between case and back. We fit this opener into a folding red body measuring 75 mm when closed. It carries both a stout case-opening blade and a thin secondary cutting blade for bench tasks.

Case opener blade

The pry blade has a bevelled wedge profile dressed flat on one side. It engages the lip or notch of a press-fit caseback, giving you a firm pivot point to lever the back off the case without a loose edge.

Small utility blade

The second folding blade is ground thin for trimming pegwood, cutting tape, or opening packaging at the bench. It folds flat into the handle scales when not in use so the working edge stays covered.

Handle scales

The red composite scales measure 75 mm closed, giving enough purchase across the palm when applying steady upward pressure. The smooth rounded sides sit comfortably in the hand during firm levering motions.

Folding action

Both blades pivot on internal brass pins with positive slipjoint backsprings. They snap fully open for work and fold away cleanly to store inside a tool roll or bench drawer without dulling against other steel tools.

Opening a stubborn case back

Snap backs against screw backs against monobloc cases, how a case key and its dies engage a fluted rim, why the case is held in a holder rather than in the hand, and what to do when the back has been opened badly before.
