We shape the jaws of the 7427-NP-K to wedge evenly beneath the hand hub. The nickel plating over steel leaves a smooth surface that slides against work without grabbing. You bring the tips together from opposite sides and lift straight up away from the dial.
Jaw profile
The tips taper down to fine wedges that reach under the boss of the hand. Both sides meet flush so the lift comes straight upward instead of tilting the pivot.
Nickelled finish
We plate the steel body in nickel. The smooth coating resists workshop corrosion and cleans dry with a piece of pith wood or pegwood between assemblies.
Body tension
The arms carry enough spring resistance to let your fingers feel the exact resistance of the hand collet as the jaws close beneath it.
Bench handling
Keep the working tips clear of the steel staking block and store the tool in a dry box. If the wedge faces accumulate grease, wash them in solvent and wipe dry.
