Bench jobOpening and closing a case

Opening tight threaded casebacks requires the case to remain stationary while torque is applied with a key. We machine the body of the 55-068 from steel so it can be clamped firmly into a standard bench vice. Synthetic chucks bear directly against the case sides to hold the geometry without metal-on-metal contact.

Steel body mounting

The body is machined from steel to take the clamping pressure of a bench vice. This anchors the fixture so both hands remain free to address the caseback key.

Synthetic chuck jaws

The chucks that contact the case are formed from plastic rather than bare metal. They seat against the case perimeter to spread the holding force across the profile.

Caseback opening setup

A case held in the hand will twist under the torque of a stubborn back. Locking this vice into your bench hardware provides the rigid base needed for controlled opening.

Bench vice fit

The base profile drops directly between the jaws of a standard workshop vice. Tightening the bench jaws secures the holder without secondary mounting plates.
