We turn this pin punch for driving bracelet pins and friction tubes clear of links. The stainless steel body carries an elastomer sleeve that sits between your fingers as you steady the tip. The 0.70 mm working end aligns directly over the hole in the link before you strike with a light brass hammer.
Punch tip profile
The tip is turned down to 0.70 mm to enter bracelet link holes without binding on the inner walls. Keep the shaft perpendicular to the link face so the force travels straight along the pin axis.
Elastomer handle sleeve
A textured elastomer membrane covers the stainless steel core. The coating gives your fingers purchase when aligning the narrow punch over recessed link pins, even when working under close loupe magnification.
Hammer striking face
The rear face takes light taps from a watchmaker hammer to start tight friction pins. Work slowly across the link block, supporting the bracelet underside so the punch does not bend during the drive.
Replacing worn points
Pin punches will eventually bend or break if misaligned under a blow. When the 0.70 mm tip deforms, unscrew the holder collar to seat a fresh point from the 6988 family.

Changing a strap at the lugs
The order of work when a strap or bracelet comes off: which end of the spring bar tool does what, the difference between a fork end and a pin end, drilled lugs against closed lugs, and why the bracelet is held rather than gripped.
