| Bench job | Opening and closing a case |
Opening a tight snap back requires steady leverage rather than sudden force. We shape the 6484 with a dual-lever linkage that translates hand grip into controlled lifting motion at the pry tip. It sits flat in the palm while you find the case notch and work the seam open.
Double lever action
Two coordinated pivot arms multiply your grip at the working end. Squeezing the handles brings the pry face upward against the case lip gradually, avoiding the sharp jerks common with single-piece pocket knives.
Pry blade profile
The working edge is ground thin to slip into shallow case notches and tight bezel seams. It supports the underside of the back while you apply pressure, directing the lift straight away from the mid-case.
Handle grip
The body fills the palm without rolling as you bear down. Smooth outer surfaces let you reposition your fingers quickly to adjust the entry angle around the perimeter of the watch.
Bench maintenance
Keep the working edge free of metal shavings and old gasket grease after stubborn backs are lifted. A clean cloth across the pivots keeps the linkage moving without sticking between jobs.
