When replacing a winding crown or fitting a stem, calipers can be awkward to seat against tiny internal threads. We stamp the metal plate of our 6740 gauge with dedicated reference cutouts and threaded holes so you can test parts directly against standard sizing steps. It lies flat beside your movement pad.
Stem thread checks
Small threaded test holes along the plate let you screw in a stem or crown tap to identify the thread without guessing. You turn the part by hand until it engages cleanly.
Crown and tube steps
Cutouts along the edges receive crown caps and case tube openings to gauge their outer and inner dimensions directly against marked cut profiles. A quick trial fit confirms the sizing before you assemble the case.
Lug span guides
Graduated steps on the plate let you check the distance between case lugs before selecting spring bars. You rest the watch case horns directly against the metal reference edges.
The plate finish
We cut the body from a solid metal sheet with clear millimetre markings etched into the face. It sits on the bench mat without flexing and wipes clean of oil and filings with a dry cloth.
