| What it is | A tool in its own right |
| Bench job | Working on the movement |
We turn the barrel of our 7899 screwdriver from anodised aluminium to keep the weight down over long hours at the bench. A band of synthetic elastomer sits where your fingers pinch the knurling. The stainless steel blade secures with a side screw and swaps out when worn.
Aluminium body and grip
We turn the handle from aluminium and anodise the surface. The soft elastomer band gives purchase without requiring heavy pinch pressure from your index finger and thumb.
Synthetic swivel head
The self-lubricating synthetic head turns freely against your fingertip while the barrel rotates beneath it. It keeps the driver steady in the screw slot as you work across the plates.
Stainless steel blade
The interchangeable blade is ground from stainless steel to seat square in the screw head. When the flat wears or rounds, you loosen the grub screw on the ferrule to replace it.
Movement assembly
This driver is built for movement work where light touch matters more than heavy torque. Keep spare blades in your bench block so you can redress or swap tips without delay.

A note that touches this tool
Reading a catalogue number
What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.
Choosing a blade width
Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
