Bench jobWorking on the movement

We grind these replacement blades for the 2 mm driver in our 30080 range. A screwdriver blade wears at the corners after steady bench use, and swapping in a fresh tip restores the fit in the screw slot without replacing the entire handle.

Blade profile

We grind the working edge parallel across the 2 mm width. This profile lets the tip seat deep into movement screw slots rather than riding up on an angle.

Fitting the handle

Loosen the set screw on the driver body, slide out the spent steel, and seat the fresh blade firmly before tightening down the ferrule screw again.

Workshop dressing

The face is ground ready for use, though watchmakers often dress the flanks on an India stone to suit specific bridge or plate screws.

Storage at the bench

Keep spare tips stored in their capsule or in the central well of your rotating carousel so fresh steel is on hand when a tip chips.

A note that touches this tool

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
