| Bench job | Seeing the work |
Two optical elements sit inside the turned body to yield twelve times magnification. The assembly brings fine pivots and escapements up close without forcing the eye off the bench axis. We turn the bezel to seat both lenses square.
Double lens assembly
Two ground optical lenses work in sequence inside the body. The combination yields twelve times magnification for inspecting balance pivots, pallet stones, and wheel teeth where single element glasses run short on power.
Turned body profile
The outer shell is turned with a flared rim that rests against the orbital bone. It stays in position with minimal brow pressure while both hands remain on the tweezers and screwdrivers.
Screw bezel retention
A threaded bezel secures the secondary lens in place. When cleaning dust from the inner optical surfaces, the ring unscrews to allow thorough wiping of each face before reseating.
Bench storage care
Keep the eyeglass upside down on a clean peg or inside a covered box when out of use. Dust settles on the upper lens quickly if left face up on the work mat.
