| Bench job | Seeing the work |
We turn this body in white plastic to catch stray light under the bench lamp. The glass is a biconvex lens set deep enough to keep your fingers off the polished faces. It gives a direct view of bridge screws, jewel holes, and escapement teeth without cluttering the hand holding the tweezers.
White body molding
The white body reflects bench lighting inward onto the movement plates. It sits between the cheek and brow without requiring heavy pressure, leaving both hands free to handle tweezers and screwdrivers.
Biconvex glass lens
We mount a biconvex glass lens inside the bezel. The optical surfaces are left unpainted and uncoated, providing a clear image across the central field when you bring the piece close to the eye.
Working focal distance
This glass brings the work into focus when held close to the movement. That distance gives enough clearance for an oiler needle or hand lever to pass beneath without striking the front bezel.
Bench care
Dust collects inside any open eye cup over time. Wipe the optical glass with lens tissue or a clean selvyt cloth, and store the loupe face down in a covered bench tray between jobs.
