We make the 4079-3A for lifting stubborn cannon pinions and tight hands straight off their arbors. The side springs compress between thumb and forefinger, driving the ground jaws inward while the center runner rests flat against the post. The motion stays vertical.
Jaw profile
The opposing steel jaws are shaped thin at the leading edge to wedge beneath the pinion shoulder. Squeezing the side springs draws both tips inward simultaneously, distributing the lifting force across opposite sides of the component.
Center runner
A spring-loaded central plunger meets the top of the arbor as the tool settles into position. It provides a fixed axis so the upward pull acts straight along the post rather than canting to one side.
Spring action
The arched side bows give immediate resistance against the fingers. You feel the jaws seat, and the return spring opens the mechanism fully once hand pressure eases off the textured grips.
Bench storage
Store the tool in a dry rack or divided drawer where the fine jaw edges cannot strike heavier steel. Keep the sliding surfaces free of debris with a dry brush during daily movement work.
