| What it is | A tool in its own right |
| Bench job | Fitting hands |
Setting watch hands requires straight downward pressure without marking the polished bosses or bending the pivots beneath. We turn the handles of the 7404 tools from aluminum and fit each end with synthetic runners bored to clear central arbors. You guide the tip over the pinion, square the face against the hand, and press home.
Synthetic runner tips
We fit synthetic runners into the working ends so the contact face meets the hand boss flat. The material yields before it scuffs a finished hand. Each bore accommodates center posts and second pivots without binding.
Knurled aluminum handles
We knurl the body of each tool to give your fingers purchase when lining up the tip with the dial train. The lightweight aluminum stock lets you gauge the resistance of the hand pipe sliding onto its seat.
Double ended construction
Each tool carries a different tip profile at either end to match standard hour, minute, and sweep second hand collars. You flip the barrel in your fingers as you work through the train.
Replacing worn tips
The synthetic runners press into the metal ends of the tool. When a bore widens with use or a face picks up grit from the bench, you ease out the old runner and press in a fresh replacement.
