What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobFitting hands

Prying hands off a dial with loose levers requires steady hands and careful balancing. This Presto tool lifts both sides together. You set the tips under the hand boss, rest the center post on the pinion, and squeeze the spring sides to draw the hands upward in one movement.

Lifting jaws

The thin steel jaws slide directly beneath the hand boss. When you close the sides, the jaws rise evenly together so the hand lifts perpendicular to the dial surface.

Center plunge post

A central runner rests directly against the top of the post or cannon pinion. It holds the tool steady over the arbor while the outer jaws draw upward around it.

Spring side frame

The outer bow forms the spring. Squeezing the knurled sides drives the lifting carriage through its stroke, giving your fingers direct control over the lifting rate.

Bench storage

We keep catalogue number 30636-1 in a small bench block or hung by its spring frame. Keep the fine jaw edges clean of dial debris and dried oil between movements.
