Bench jobChanging a strap or bracelet

This is the replacement pointed pin for our 3153 spring bar tool. It threads into the handle when an original point mushrooms, bends, or loses its true cylinder under bench work. Keep the body of the tool and swap only the working end.

Pointed pin profile

The tip is turned down to a straight cylinder for depressing spring bar pivots through drilled lug holes. It enters the lug squarely so pressure travels straight along the axis of the spring bar.

Threaded shank fit

We cut the shank to match the internal thread of the 3153 tool handle. It seats flush against the collar, seating fully so there is no lateral play once turned home with your fingers.

Replacing a worn tip

Unscrew the damaged pin from the tool body and wipe the internal threads clean of old debris. Thread this replacement in until it seats firm against the shoulder of the handle before bringing it to a case.

Keeping spares on hand

A fine point takes the brunt of stubborn spring bar shoulders and drilled lugs. When a point deforms, replace it immediately rather than dressing a bent pin at the bench.

Changing a strap at the lugs

The order of work when a strap or bracelet comes off: which end of the spring bar tool does what, the difference between a fork end and a pin end, drilled lugs against closed lugs, and why the bracelet is held rather than gripped.
