Forked tips round off over hundreds of strap changes. We turn this replacement flat tip to thread directly into the handle of our 3153 spring bar tool. You unthread the worn steel end, seat this one down onto the shoulder, and get back to the lug.
The flat fork profile
We mill the notch wide enough to seat against the shoulder of standard flanged spring bars. The flat exterior slides between the strap leather and the inner face of the lug without binding.
Threaded fitting
The shank carries fine threading that matches the tapped end of the 3153 handle. It seats squarely against the ferrule so the fork does not wobble or turn under hand pressure.
Replacing a worn tip
Grip the old tip with smooth pliers or a pin vise to back it out. Thread the new blade into the tool body by hand until the shoulder meets the metal, then snug it firm.
Bench maintenance
Keep a spare blade in the drawer alongside the tool. Steel edges take wear from hard spring bar collars, and swapping the tip restores the bite of the fork immediately.
