What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobWorking on the movement

A movement screwdriver sized for intermediate bridge and plate screws. We fit the 6899-120 with a 1.2 mm blade and mark the knurled barrel with a red ring so it is picked up quickly from the rack. The swivel head stays flat beneath your forefinger while the body turns between thumb and finger.

The blade width

We grind this blade to a width of 1.2 mm with parallel flats. The profile meets the walls of the screw slot across its full depth rather than wedging against the top edges.

The knurled barrel

The knurling on the barrel gives purchase under light finger pressure. A red band sits below the swivel head so the 1.2 mm size shows immediately in the tray or on the bench.

The swivel head

Your index finger rests on the concave top of the head to steady the driver vertically. The head turns freely on its pivot while your lower fingers drive the thread home.

Replacing the tip

The blade is held in the shank by a small grub screw. When the edge wears down or chips under torque, loosen the set screw, draw the old steel out, and seat a fresh blade.

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
