| What it is | A tool in its own right |
| Bench job | Fitting hands |
We turn this double-ended hand setting tool for quartz calibres and flat dial assemblies. The body carries a specific bore diameter at each end so you can press an hour or minute hand true without touching the dial surface. It sits between thumb and forefinger while you sight the post clearance.
Bore diameters
One synthetic tip carries a 1.00 mm bore while the opposing face is bored to 2.75 mm. The bore clears the pinion arbor so downward pressure meets only the hand boss during setting.
Synthetic tip inserts
The ends are fitted with synthetic material rather than bare metal. The working surface stays flat against the brass or steel collar of the hand while you square it against the dial post.
Knurled handle barrel
We cut straight knurling into the metal body between the two tips. The grip gives positive tactile feedback when you lower the tool perpendicular to the movement plate under a loupe.
Quartz movement work
We dimensioned this 7404-3 tool for quartz layouts where hand clearance above the dial surface is tight. It lets you feel the hand seat on the wheel pipe before checking levelness.
