These levers pry under the hairspring collet without chewing up the balance staff shoulder. We set hardened steel tips into light synthetic bodies so you can lever from both sides at once. The catalogue number is 5430.
Steel working inserts
The business end of each lever carries a fine steel insert ground thin enough to enter beneath the collet. It takes the lifting load directly off the brass or soft steel hub.
Synthetic body
The body is moulded plastic to keep the levers light between your fingers. It also gives the tool enough body to rest flat against the balance wheel rim if needed.
Paired lifting action
Collets come off straight only when lifted from opposite sides together. We supply the levers as a matched pair so you apply equal upward force with both hands across the staff.
Tip maintenance
Keep the steel points clean of dried oil or bench dust before sliding them under a hairspring. Wipe them on elder pith between jobs so no grit transfers to the coils.
