A curved dial leaves little clearance beneath a sweep second hand. We shape the jaws of this No. 30670-6 tool to match that contour so they close under the pipe without resting flat on the paint. Squeezing the side springs draws the center post straight upward.

Jaws for curved dials

The steel lifting tips curve upward to reach under a second hand on a domed dial. They pinch the underside of the pipe evenly on both sides rather than levering from one edge.

Spring loaded plunger

The center runner descends against the dial post while the outer fingers rise. This vertical action pulls the hand straight off the pivot instead of canting it to one side.

White runner tip

We finish the center contact in white material to distinguish the tool on the bench rack. It meets the movement arbor directly to steady the pull as the fingers close.

Bench handling

You steady the tool between thumb and forefinger, locate the jaws around the second hand boss, and squeeze. The springs return the jaws once the hand lifts free.
