What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobWorking on the movement

The barrel of our 31081-100 is turned from anodized aluminum to keep the tool light between your fingers. It carries a 1.00 mm conical blade formed from Declafor 1015 alloy for working near hairsprings and escapements. The plain swivel head runs on synthetic material without needing oil.

Non-magnetic conical blade

We shape the 1.00 mm tip from Declafor 1015 alloy. The non-magnetic metal lets you turn bridge screws and movement hardware without drawing delicate steel components toward the shank.

Anodized aluminum barrel

The body is machined from aluminum and finished with an anodized surface. A fine knurled band gives your fingertips purchase during controlled turns.

Self-lubricating swivel head

The plain head is molded from POM synthetic material. It rotates against the body without added grease, keeping your index finger steady over the screw axis.

Replacing the tip

A set screw in the side of the barrel locks the blade firmly in place. Loosen it with an auxiliary driver when dressing or replacing the 1.00 mm tip.

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
