Chronograph hands and tightly seated pinions require a straight vertical pull. We shape the 30638-3 to close under the component while the central plunger bears down on the post. You squeeze the sprung sides to draw the part upward in one controlled stroke.
Lift under the hub
The jaws close beneath the hand boss or pinion shoulder rather than wedging against the dial face. As the sides meet, the lifting movement starts immediately.
Central steadying pin
A center plunger rests directly against the pivot or arbor. This gives the tool a fixed point to lever against, keeping the pull parallel to the axis.
Spring return handle
The body acts as its own spring. Releasing your grip opens the jaws and returns the plunger, ready for the next wheel on the train.
Bench maintenance
Keep the lifting edges free of dried oil and brass filings. A light dressing with an Arkansas stone cleans any burr that forms along the contact flats.
