What it isA spare part for a tool you already have
Bench jobWorking on the movement

Automatic oilers depend entirely on the straightness and bore of the point. We grind this replacement needle under reference 1A to fit the 7718-P handle directly. When a tip bends or gums up past cleaning, you swap the needle rather than discard the pen.

Fitting the body

The needle seats straight into the nose of the 7718-P automatic oiler. It aligns with the internal feed wire so lubricant releases only when the point touches the jewel sink.

The delivery tip

The hollow point brings a tiny, measured dot of oil directly to shock settings and train pivots. It leaves the balance spring and bridge surfaces dry by containing the fluid until contact.

Replacing a worn needle

A bent tip will misdirect the droplet or catch on the setting edge. Unscrew the front collar of the oiler body, draw out the damaged needle, and insert reference 1A without forcing the internal plunger.

Keeping the bore clear

Run dry pith wood over the tip between lubricating runs to pick up dried residue. If old oil thickens inside the channel, soak the needle alone in pure cleaning solvent before returning it to the handpiece.

Oilers, cups and how much goes on

Why oilers come in graded sizes, what an oil cup with a lid is for, why the oil is picked up from the cup and not from the bottle, how a jewel takes a drop, and how oilers are cleaned between grades.
