Hand setting tools take steady downward pressure directly over dial pivots and hand bosses. When the working end of a tool in our 7404 family becomes grooved or burred through long service, we supply this individual replacement point. It seats directly into the tool holder so the hand setter returns to bench work without delay.
Synthetic working face
The tip presents a non-marring synthetic surface directly against the hand pipe. It transfers downward pressure from the handle while the tool seats the hand over its pinion.
Seating in the holder
We turn the shank to fit the collet of the 7404 hand setting tool. It locks into the tool body so there is no wobble as you steady the tool over the center wheel pivot.
Replacing a worn point
Tips eventually pick up debris or lose their flat face after repeated use on tight hand bosses. You loosen the holder, pull the spent point, and press this piece into place.
Bench storage
Keep spare tips in a small compartment box away from loose metal tools. Grit embedded in the synthetic end will transfer to watch hands if left unprotected on the bench mat.
