We size this blade to 1.4 mm for bridge and plate screws across common calibres. The flat tip fills the slot across its full width, while the swivel head stays stationary under the forefinger as the barrel turns between thumb and finger.
Blade and tip profile
We grind the 1.4 mm blade parallel at the working tip so the flats engage the screw slot evenly. A small grub screw in the body holds the steel shank and releases it when the edge requires dressing on an India stone.
Knurled handle barrel
The body carries fine knurling along the midsection to give your fingers purchase when breaking a tight thread loose. The barrel remains narrow enough to see around as you line the tip with the screw head.
Swivel head action
The head rotates freely on the handle shank, letting your index finger maintain steady downward pressure while your other fingers turn the barrel. This keeps the tip seated squarely in the slot through each partial rotation.
Colour band identification
A coloured ring sits below the swivel head to mark the 1.4 mm diameter immediately among the drivers on your bench. It lets you return the tool to its hole in the carousel without measuring the tip.

A note that touches this tool
Reading a catalogue number
What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.
Choosing a blade width
Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
