What it isA tool in its own right
Bench jobWorking on the movement

A bridge screw needs a flat blade that fills the slot without binding against the walls. We size the tip of the 30080-07 to 1.6 mm for movement work. The handle gives your fingertips purchase while your index finger stays planted on the head.

Blade ground to size

The 1.6 mm blade is shaped with parallel flats so it seats down to the bottom of the screw slot. It stays centered under light downward pressure while the handle turns.

Knurled barrel profile

Fine knurling cut directly into the metal body gives your thumb and middle finger positive traction. You can feel the thread take hold without squeezing the barrel.

Free swivel head

The top head turns on its own axis. Your forefinger rests on it to keep the tool upright, leaving the barrel free to rotate smoothly underneath.

Set screw blade replacement

A small grub screw in the ferrule clamps the blade in place. When the working edge wears down, loosen the screw, pull the old blade out, and seat a fresh one.

Reading a catalogue number

What the parts of a Bergeon reference number mean, why the number is how a tool is asked for, how a suffix marks a size or a variant of the same family, and how to find the spare blade for a handle you already own.

Choosing a blade width

Why a screwdriver is chosen by the width of its blade rather than by its name, what happens to a screw head when the blade is a step too narrow, how the blades are stepped through the range, and how a worn blade is dressed or swapped.
