What it isA consumable that runs out
Bench jobWorking on the movement

A fresh gasket needs a light film of lubricant before it goes into a groove or over a case neck. We package this silicone grease under catalogue number 5667 for bench casing work. You transfer it with a pegwood stick or a dedicated applicator, working it evenly along the ring. Keep the jar closed when not in hand.

Grease consistency

This compound stays put on rubber and polymer rings without running into the movement cavity. A very thin coating across the whole circumference is what you want before seating the part into its recess.

Bench application

Take a small speck onto the dressed end of a pegwood sliver or between gloved fingers. Work the ring through the bead until the surface shows a uniform sheen, then seat it without twisting.

Tub storage

The wide-mouth container gives clean access for an applicator tip without scraping the rim. Screw the lid down tight between operations to keep bench filings, lint, and dried paste out of the mass.

Where it belongs

We keep this jar beside the casing stand rather than the movement oil tray. It is intended for case back O-rings, crown gaskets, and pusher seals during final assembly at the bench.

Oilers, cups and how much goes on

Why oilers come in graded sizes, what an oil cup with a lid is for, why the oil is picked up from the cup and not from the bottle, how a jewel takes a drop, and how oilers are cleaned between grades.
