We turn this body from stainless steel to give it weight and rigidity between the fingers. One end carries a 0.8mm round point for drilled lugs and clasp holes, while the opposite end carries a 1mm fork for flanged spring bars. It stays on the bench mat ready for fitting straps.
The pointed tip
A cylindrical 0.8mm point enters the drilled hole in an outer lug or the micro-adjustment positions along a clasp. It depresses the shoulder of the spring bar directly without binding inside the channel.
The milled fork
We mill the opposite end into a 1mm wide fork. The two prongs slide between the strap edge and the inner lug wall, catching the raised flange on the bar so you can compress it.
The turned handle
Turned from solid stainless steel, the central barrel provides enough thickness to control your working angle. The silver finish wipes clean of bench oils and does not flake onto the movement tray.
Replacing working ends
Tips wear down after thousands of compressions against hard spring bar shoulders. The ends unthread from the stainless steel barrel when dull, allowing you to seat fresh tips into the catalogue 55-152 body.
