1.25 mm barrel arbor holder slide locking jaws tool, Watchmaker Tool

Holding a small barrel arbor between the fingers while turning it or fitting a mainspring is awkward work. We shape the jaws of this tool to take a 1.25 mm arbor body. The slide ring locks the split jaws down along their taper so the piece stays put.

Slide locking sleeve

A knurled collar slides forward along the body of the tool to close the split jaws. Moving the collar back lets the steel open naturally so you can seat or free the arbor without prying.

Sized jaw opening

The jaws are cut with a dedicated 1.25 mm opening. This gives broad contact across the arbor flats rather than pinching a single point.

Handle profile

We knurl the central portion of the handle so it does not turn in oily fingers. The round profile lets you roll the piece between your thumb and forefinger when inspecting the arbor pivots.

Bench storage

Store the holder in a slotted wooden block or clean bench tray with the jaws released. Leaving the locking ring backed off keeps the spring temper in the steel jaws over years of use.
