What it isSomething that holds the work
Bench jobWorking on the movement

We turn this pin vise to 105 mm so it rests naturally between thumb and forefinger over the balance cock. The jaws close true on fine wire without twisting the coil. You get the stability needed when pinning a stud or truing a hairspring by hand.

Collet and jaws

The split jaw closes evenly around narrow hairspring wire and studs. It grips the metal flat so the spring does not tilt when you tighten the collar.

Knurled barrel

We cut diamond knurling into the body where your fingertips rest. This gives you steady purchase when making delicate adjustments under the loupe.

Length of 105 mm

The 105 mm body provides enough reach to keep your hand clear of the balance bridge. It balances upright in a bench block between operations.

Care and bench storage

Keep the clamping jaws free of dried oil and grit with a dry pegwood stick. Store the pin vise with the nose closed lightly to shield the threads.
