Putty stays dry on the pegwood or between your fingertips as you work. We prepare reference 6033 to lift oil from cap jewels, clear debris around train wheel pivots, and take smudges off bridges without leaving a film. A pinch is torn off, worked until fresh, and discarded once loaded.

Tearing a fresh piece

Pinch off a small portion with dry fingers or tweezers. Knead it lightly to expose a clean surface before bringing it to the movement, then discard the piece once it collects oil or dust.

Clearing balance pivots

Roll a tapered point against a balance pivot or train wheel arbor. The putty takes up dried lubricant and metal particles directly from the pivot shoulder without spreading fluid into adjacent bridge recesses.

Lifting bench smudges

Light contact draws oil spots and stray fingerprints off polished plates, dials, and hand surfaces. It picks up debris dry, avoiding the need for liquid wash cycles on partly assembled trains.

Storage on the bench

Keep the bar wrapped in its foil or inside a small covered box between operations. Open air gathers bench dust quickly, which shortens the working life of the fresh material underneath.
