We prepare this green compound under catalogue number 6033 as a dry cleaning putty for the bench. A piece is pinched off and worked by hand to lift unwanted matter without wet solvents. It takes up excess lubrication, dust, and handling marks from bridges, dials, and wheels.
Pinching the compound
Tear off a small portion and knead it between the fingers before use. The fresh surface takes up residue from plates, bridges, and dial faces. Fold the putty over as it gathers matter to keep a clean working face.
Cleaning delicate pivots
Press train wheel pivots and balance pivots gently into the mass. The compound lifts dried oils and loose particles from the steel without bending the arbor. It leaves the pivot ready for fresh lubrication in the jewel.
Taking up excess oil
Touch the worked point directly against jewel holes or bridge surfaces where oil has flooded past the sink. The putty draws away the surplus bead on contact. It controls spread without running across the train.
Bench storage and renewal
