We house a 2 mm bundle of fiberglass bristles inside the barrel of number 6240. The pen format fits between the fingers like a writing instrument. It lets you clear oxide from old steel parts or dress a flat surface with a straight, matte grain.
Fiberglass bundle
The 2 mm glass fibers act as a stiff abrasive pad. They bite into rust and old tarnish on steel components where a paste or liquid cleaner would sit too wet.
Thumb mechanism
A spring loaded button on the handle advances the fiber bundle as the tip wears down. Keep the exposed length short so the bundle stays rigid against the metal.
Pen handle
The barrel is shaped to sit naturally in the hand. You can direct the point into corners, screw recesses, and tight angles on a case or movement component with steady finger pressure.
Refilling the bristles
When the fiber bundle is consumed, the feed mechanism takes a fresh refill insert. Keep the bench clear of loose glass dust by brushing the work under light suction.
